Resident Assistant
• Peking University – Yale University Joint Undergraduate Program in Beijing.
General Purpose
• The Resident Assistant will help facilitate campus and residential life for participants of the Peking
University-Yale University Joint Undergraduate Program in Beijing.
• Program participants are comprised of 9 Yale University undergraduates and 9 Peking University students currently enrolled in Yuanpei College.
• Students will room together in Building 42 and study together.
Requirements
• A 4-month position starting from early February, 2012, with some preparatory work beginning earlier.
• PKU Junior or Senior
• Minimum GPA 3.2.
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Enthusiasm to serve.
• A minimum of 14 working-hours per week.
Duties
• Respond to Program students’ needs and problems as they arise, especially after working hours and on weekends. When appropriate, contact Program staff for assistance.
• Be ready to perform various tasks assigned by OIR or Joint Program Office
• Assist OIR and the Joint Program Office with logistics prior to and after the program.
• Make students aware of weekly dormitory announcements and activities.
• Initiate and organize activities to build a community spirit among Program participants.
• Monitor supplies and equipment in bathrooms and common rooms, enforce fire safety and emergency exit rules and regulations, report repair needs, and keep student dorm a safe, clean, and pleasant living space for everyone.
• Make local emergency calls and contacts the Joint Program staff ASAP.
• Attend scheduled Program excursions when possible.
• Communicate regularly with Program staff.
Preferred
• Demonstrated leadership ability and an outgoing personality.
• Enjoy working with people and have good student service attitude.
• Good knowledge of dormitory and student life on PKU campus.
• Previous experience or involvement with the Joint Program
Compensation
• 800 RMB per month plus single-room at Building 42.
