Founded in 1898, Peking University was initially named as the Imperial University of Peking, whose establishment marked the threshold of modern Chinese higher education. For over a hundred years, the traditional ideals of patriotism, advancement, democracy and science, combined with diligence, preciseness, verity and innovation have been passed down from generation to generation. Studying at Peking University, you will indulge in the unique and rich cultural heritage of the University.
With a community of over 40, 000 students, faculty members and staff from a variety of cultural backgrounds, Peking University is very proud of its vibrant and international campus. While you diligently learn from eminent professors in the class, we also appreciate your independent and creative thinking, which will contribute to a more dynamic and diverse learning environment. At the same time I hope you will also enjoy the colorful extracurricular, athletic and social activities that are remarkable parts of the campus.
