Museum of Peking University

The Museum of PKU History was founded on May 4th, 1998, on the centennial anniversary of Peking University's founding. It covers an area of 3,100 square meters and comprises three floors. The ground floor comprises the entrance hall and special exhibitions space. There is an exhibition titled “The Present-day of PKU”which describes the development of Peking University in basement one.In basement two, there is Peking University’s Hall of Fame, which displays images and artifacts from the lives of prominent revolutionaries, philosophers, the oreticians and educators in the history of Peking University.

Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology

The Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology was officially opened on May 27th, 1993, and wasthe first modern museum built in a Chinese university.It was co-built by Peking University and Dr. Arthur M. Sackler and it collects tens of thousands of items together at an area of nearly 2,000 square meters. The collections include stoneware, brassware, oracle bones, china, paintings, calligraphy and rubbings, which covers the period of Paleolithic, Neolithic and Bronzeages, the Warring States period, Qin and Han dynasties, Three Kingdoms period, Six Dynasties period, and the Sui, Tang, Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan and Ming dynasties.

Museum of Biology at Peking University



Museum of Biology at Peking University is the first biology museum established by a Chinese scholar in China. In 1917, Mr. CaiYuanpei, then President of Peking University, appointed Mr. Zhong Guanguang as an associate professor of the Natural History Department of Peking University. Mr. Zhong traveled to 11 provinces and regions, collecting more than 15,000 specimens for the museum. At present, its collection contains more than 60,000 specimens of various animals and plants from all over China. The first floor is the exhibition area of animal diversity, the second floor is the exhibition of plant specimens and biological evolution, and the underground floor is the preservation and collection of various specimens for teaching and research.
