If you hold a short-term "Z" visa and will stay at PKU for more than 30 days, you need to go to the Exit-Entry Administration of Municipal Public Security Bureau to apply for a residence permit.
Documents Required:
• Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application Form (one 2-inch photo);
• Letter issued by the Office of International Relations;
• Passport (valid for at least 6 months);
• Work Permit and Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit;
• Certificate of Verification for Physical Examination Record for Foreigners issued by Beijing Exit–Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau;
• Accommodation Registration Form;
• Certificate of kinship for family members (marriage certificate or children's birth certificate with the Chinese translation version).
Tips:
A fee of 400 RMB is charged for short-term residence permit and 800 RMB for long-term residence permit. You may pay the fee with cash or via WeChat, Alipay and Debit Card.
