International faculty who work at PKU for more than 30 days are eligible to apply for a PKU campus card (but not for their family members), which is an identity card that allows convenient campus entry, access to the library and internet service and serves as a dining card in on-campus canteens and cafes.

Campus Card

Application Procedures:

1) Collect an “Application Form for Campus Card” from the Office of International Relations.

2) Submit the application form at the Campus Card Center (Room B117 of the New Sun Student Center) in person.

Notes:

• The fee for the campus card is 40 RMB.

• If you lose your campus card, please go to the Campus Card Center with your passport and the number of your original card, then you can apply for a replacement card by paying another 40 RMB.

Extension Procedures:

1) Collect an “Application Form for Extension of the Campus Card” from the Office of International Relations.

2) You or a representative of yours can extend the card at the Campus Card Center with the form and the original campus card.

Recharge:

The campus card also serves as a stored-value card that allows you to pay for meals in on-campus canteens and cafes as well as paying other service fees on campus. The followings are two options you can top up your card to make payments.

Option 1:

Use the campus card machine located next to the PKU Campus Card Center (New Sun Student Center), which will allow you to use cash to refill your card balance.

Option 2:

Download the Alipay app on your phone and use it to refill your card.

In the app, go to: Campus Life –>学院一卡通–>新卡充值 to add your campus card (select your school and input your campus card number) –>充值 (top-up).

Multiple Functions:

Campus Entry

By showing your PKU campus card to the security guards at campus gates, you will be allowed to enter the campus. As an alternative, if you don’t have your campus card with you, you can use the face scanning machine at the gate to gain entry.

To get your face image registered in the campus security system, find the Mini program of PKU Face recognition (北大人脸采集) or scan the following QR code near the face scanning machine→log in with your campus card account→upload your photo→confirm.

On-campus Canteens and Cafes

You may use the campus card to pay for your meals at all PKU on-campus canteens and cafes.

Library Service

You can borrow or read books from the PKU library using your campus card. To borrow books, you need to activate your campus card at the front desk on the first floor of the PKU library.

Internet Access

You can access PKU campus Internet with your campus card account.To apply for internet service, you need to activate your campus card at the Communication Services Center (located in Natural Science Building No. 1).

Temporary Pass

If you visit PKU for less than 30 days, you can apply for a temporary pass to enter campus. So can your family members.

Application Materials:

• An introduction letter by your department/school;

• One 1-inch photo;

• Passport (valid for at least 6 months).

Tips:

• You can apply for a Sun Card from your unit to have meals at canteens on campus.
