On December 4, 60 international faculty members of Peking University and their family members, upon invitation of the Beijing Overseas Talents Center, enjoyed the ballet gala organised by the National Ballet of China in the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The ballet gala merged Chinese cultures with foreign cultures, linked up the ancient and the modern worlds, and won a thunderous ovation from the audience.

In the 2-hour performance, the international faculties have enjoyed the La Sylphide, a masterpiece of romantic ballet, the ShanHe, a Symphonic Ballet composed by LiYang, and Carmen, a masterpiece created by Roland Petit.
Among these performances, ShanHe is the prototype of “China speed” from the constructions of Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital. The artists on stage performed the scenes of those builders who were well armed with weapons and overcomed the adversities without fear.

It was a fresh experience for many international faculties. They expressed their high appreciation of the Chinese ballet performance. They were amazed by the splendid performance of the dancers. They thought the classical ballet performances were full of Chinese characteristics. They all looked forward to the following events organised by the International Faculty Club.
