
Yanjun Liu is an Associate Professor at the School of Government, Peking University. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Law (Political Science and Public Administration) and Economics from Peking University, a master’s degree in Public Management from Tsinghua University, and a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research focuses on comparative politics, Chinese politics, and world politics, with primary interests in theory and methods in comparative politics, political psychology and behavior, identity and discourse politics, political representation and party politics, and the politics of inequality and public policy. He also studies security and conflict, particularly the interaction between domestic and international politics. Methodologically, he employs causal inference, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and mixed-method research designs. Professor Liu is the author of the forthcoming book Ordering Loyalties (Palgrave Macmillan), which examines hierarchical political trust and governance in China from a comparative perspective. He has published extensively in leading Chinese- and English-language academic journals and has led research projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Social Science Foundation, and the Tang Foundation. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses such as Introduction to Comparative Politics, Political Psychology, Political Analysis, Theories and Methods in Comparative Politics, Research Design and Practice, and Introduction to Political Science.
