Dr. LEI Shaohua received a doctorate in political science from the University of Utah, U.S.A, in 2013. He is an associate professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University, and is a senior research fellow at the Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Peking University. His research fields are Chinese politics and public policy, comparative studies on Chinese and foreign political systems, Sino-U.S. relations. His main works are Social Protest in Contemporary China, 2003-2010: Transitional Pains and Regime Legitimacy (London: Routledge, 2014, co-authored with Yanqi Tong), “Sublimating Contentious Chinese Politics into Local Public Administration,” Public Integrity Journal, 2017
