On October 14, 2016, Professor Jukka Kola, the Rector of University of Helsinki (UH), led a delegation to visit Peking University (PKU). Zhu Shanlu, Chairman of the PKU Council, and Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, warmly received the guests at Linhuxuan.
Chairman Zhu first extended a warm welcome to the UH delegation. He mentioned that PKU and UH have been actively communicating and cooperating with each other in many fields and he believed that the two universities can continue making progress on enhancing communication and promoting mutual understanding. He also pointed out that PKU was willing to embrace excellent students and scholars both from home and aboard. It was his hope, that over the following years, the two schools can further implement the existing programs and expand their bilateral communication.
Rector Kola said that PKU was a strategic partner of UH. In 2014, the two universities signed an updated bilateral agreement on cooperation, aiming to develop research cooperation, and increase international student exchanges. Rector Kola also said that detailed plans need to be made to bring about mutual progress. He hoped to explore more potential areas for cooperation with PKU.
