On March 16, 2016, the Yale University Spizzwinks had a concert in the Zhongshan Music Hall, along with the Paca a cappella group from Peking University. They performed together and demonstrated cultural communication in their own way.

With a history of over one hundred years, “Spizzwinks” is one of the most famous college a cappella groups. It is composed of 13 members, most of whom are undergraduate students from different majors with a shared passion for music and great talents.

\

The songs they performed varied from modern popular songs to traditional pieces. The classics included “Wake, Freshman, Wake”, “Somebody to love”, “Why Can’t I Fall in Love”, “When We Were Young”, which told vivid stories about growth, studying and being young, while “The Yale Football Medley” demonstrated the humor of Yale’s students in an intriguing way. The concert came to its peak when they performed two popular Chinese songs, the “Olive tree” and the “Brave Man”, which they sang with accurate Chinese pronunciation, which deeply impressed the audience.

Meanwhile, Paca from Peking University also presented us with an excellent performance. They sang a popular English song “Counting Stars” and a Chinese ballad “Missing Time of Youth”, which is an original song from Peking University.

At the very end of the show, the two a cappella groups co-performed two songs, a classical Beatles song “Let it Be” and a popular Chinese one “Can’t Love You Enough”, which represents the friendship between Yale and PKU and between China and the United States.
