On February 25, 2016, a delegation from Kang Shi Fu as well as the faculty of Waseda University visited Peking University (PKU). Guests from Kang Shi Fu included Wei Hongming, Executive Director of the company; Ke Yuanda, Special Assistant in the Director’s Office; Wu Zhiwei, Director of Stockholders; and Li Dezhi, Special Assistant to the Director of Stockholders. Faculty from Waseda University included Jiang Zhengyin, Director of Waseda University’s International Department’s East Asia Section; and Yang Zhen, Director of the Office of Regional Affairs in Beijing. Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, along with the directors of the Institute of Population Research, the Institute of Scientific Research, the College of Engineering, and the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences.
To begin with, Wei Hongming expressed his sincerest gratitude for the arrangement of the meeting and the warm welcome. He recalled his father’s respect for truth and knowledge and how that had influenced him in his decision to use the company to repay society, especially in the enhancement of education. He hoped to help universities achieve more accomplishments under with both material support and empirical instruction from the company. Li Yansong then expressed his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of PKU.
After that, Li Yansong delivered his speech with regard to what role PKU and Kang Shi Fu should play in formulating a scientific standard for food safety. PKU possesses great academic strengths and has ab abundance of resources in doing scientific research and creating databases, while Kang Shi Fu is an influential and competitive company that has the responsibility as well as the ability to lead the food industry. The collaboration between PKU and Kang Shi Fu can bring about progress in the creation of better up food safety standards.
During the meeting, both faculty members from Waseda University and PKU directors and professors presented their advice regarding food safety and for enhancing collaboration among PKU, Waseda University, and Kang Shi Fu. Finally, the parties agreed to cooperative on a long-term basis and to deepen their ties. More details would be fixed in meetings held later in the semester.
