On the morning of March 4, 2016, Ms. Orly Fromer, Advisor to the President of Tel Aviv University and Director of Academic Relations and Business Development in Asia, visited Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU; Xia Hongwei, Director of the Office of International Relations (OIR); and Ma Lan, Deputy Chief of Division for Education Abroad Programs of the OIR warmly welcomed the guest at Linhuxuan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Li greeted the guests on behalf of PKU. Director Fromer then congratulated PKU for Tu Youyou’s winning the Nobel Prize. Tu Youyou is a Chinese pharmaceutical chemist and educator who graduated from the Peking University Medical School.
Then both sides agreed that in order to benefit more Israeli and Chinese students, more opportunities should be created for the students, especially in the area of student exchange programs and scientific cooperation. Currently, the two universities have established a joint center on food security, and there was discussion of greater collaboration in the fields of agriculture, and the life sciences, as well as other fields.
