On December 8, 2015, a delegation from South Korea’s Ehwa Women’s University (EWU) visited Peking University (PKU). The delegation was led by Ehwa University President Kyunghee Choi. President Lin Jianhua, Vice President Li Yansong received the guests.
The meeting started off with President Lin Jianhua first extending a warm welcome to the delegation. Though EWU and PKU had a long history of cooperation, President Lin expressed his willing to further strengthen the communication and collaboration between the two universities considering the fast development of Asian universities these days.

President Choi then went on to briefly introduce EWU. She stated that the main goal of EWU lay in its desire to hone competent women in every sector. As the university was to celebrate its 130th Anniversary next year, President Choi extended n invitation to President Lin to visit during the celebrations. Besides, Mrs. Choi stressed that EWU in its long history had fostered numerous notable alumni which could be seen in every area of Korean society, from independent freedom fighters during the colonial period to chairwomen in conglomerates firms. She also believed that both universities should use the current friendly relations between the governments of the Republic of Korea and China to further promote the collaborations in numerous fields. She especially proposed to triple the current student exchange programs and to increase exchanges among faculties

President Lin stated his admiration for the increasingly important role of women in Korean society. This was a point we could learn from Korea, he said. China still had a long way to go when it came to women’s rights and social status, but this year’s awarding of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to PKU alumni Tu Youyou was a step forward, President Lin claimed
More details about the building of a stronger inter-universities tie between the two sides were discussed later among the attendees.
