On the afternoon of November 25, 2015, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka visited Peking University (PKU). His delegation included HE Mr. Libor Secka, Czech Ambassador to China; Ma Keqing, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic; Tomáš Zima, President of Charles University. PKU President Lin Jianhua and Vice President Li Yansong received the guests at the Yingjie Exchange Center.
In the beginning of the event, Mr. Lin Jianhua delivered his remarks, and he extended his greetings to the Czech Prime Minister and delegation. Then, he reviewed the close cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries. Mr. Lin then shared with the audience some of the achievements of the collaborative efforts of PKU and Charles University, “There are many exchange programs between PKU and Charles University in Prague”, Mr. Lin explained, “PKU is a window of communication for the two countries.”

Then Mr. Sobotka delivered a speech entitled, “The Challenges that the Czech Republic and European Union Confront in the Modern Era.” He began his discourse with a concise introduction to Czech history and culture. Mr. Sobotka explained the opportunities and challenges that EU integration process faced and expressed his resolute wish to accelerate the development of bilateral ties between the Czech Republic and China, which is demonstrated by the two countries interest in the new Silk Road.
In the last segment of the event, Mr. Sobotka answered questions from the audience, who were very interested in the relations between the EU and Russia, the migration crisis, terrorism, and Sino-Czech bilateral relations.
