They were received by Lin Jianhua, President of PKU, Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, Chen Gang, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communications, Xia Hongwei, Director of the Office of International Relations (OIR), and Cui Zhe, Officer of the OIR.

Before the meeting, Mr. Quick and Mr. Bailey had already gone sightseeing on campus. Therefore, both of them started with compliments on the beautiful scenery at PKU. Then, Mr. Quick briefly introduced USC’s recent investments in research, arts, and medical science. Meanwhile, by saying “we should continue our globalization efforts”, he also showed a deep interest in cross-cultural cooperation and then mentioned two joint programs with the University of Hong Kong and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. What’s more, USC has carried out the Summer International Program to provide overseas college students with an opportunity for high-quality language training.

In response to Mr. Quick’s passion, President Lin proposed that the two institutions could established a joint center in Shenzhen, where the PKU Shenzhen Graduate School is located. In addition, Ms. Chen explained that there would be many students from the School of Journalism and Communication who are looking forward to exchange programs between PKU and USC.
