On May 28, 2015, Reiko Aoki, Vice President of Kyushu University met with Li Yansong, Vice President of Peking University (PKU) and Zheng Ruqing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations at PKU. The guests were received at Linhuxuan, and they discussed the China-Japan University President’s Conference that is scheduled for October 28 to 30 at 2015 at Kyushu University.
The conference will invite more than twenty national key universities from China and Japan and several Chinese and Japanese government institutions to engage in discussions of important topics. Both Kyushu University and Peking University stressed the importance of the conference, which can strengthen ties between national key universities in both countries. Mrs. Aoki said, “Kyushu is the closest province to China and we will be more than delighted to have the best of the top universities in China there in October.”
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the details of the conference, such as the number of delegations, topics to discuss, and the framework of the discussion. Towards the end of the meeting, they succeeded in reaching a consensus and adjusting the arrangements.
At the end of the meeting, both universities agreed to continue working on the preparations for the meeting and to keep each other informed in order to ensure that the conference will be a success. After the meeting, they exchanged the souvenirs and took photos. Mrs. Aoki was joyful after receiving some PKU t-Shirts, which she said she wants to give to her children.
