On May 18, 2015, Fabio Rugge, President of the University of Pavia, along with Ilaria Poggiolini, Vice President of the University of Pavia, and their delegation visited Peking University (PKU). They were received by Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, Zhang Hong, and Shu Zhongfei, Executive Deputy Dean and Deputy Dean, respectively, of the School of Continuing Education of PKU.
Vice President Li first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Pavia. President Fabio Rugge expressed his hope to enhance the mutual understanding of both universities and forge a tighter bond. President Fabio added that he was eager to explore the possibilities of student exchange programs and collaborative research, and that he was hopeful that the two universities could deepen their cooperation.

Additionally, professors from the University of Pavia delivered some remarks, which included an introduction to the academics of the University of Pavia in various areas, including computer science and technology, economic management, politics, and social sciences. They also made some proposals with the hope that both universities could share more information as to promote mutual understanding.
Vice President Li greatly appreciates the Italian educational system and welcomed more Italian students and scholars to come to China and Peking University. Further discussion was made on this issue.
