Vice-President of Arabian American Oil Company Visits PKU

On April 17, 2015, Khaled Al-Burai, Vice-President of the Arabian American Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and his delegation visited Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, Zhang Dongxiao, President of the College of Engineering, PKU, and Zhang Shanshan of the Office of International Relations, PKU, expressed their warmest welcome to the guests at Linhuxuan.

Vice President Li first extended a warm welcome to the Vice-President of the Arabian American Oil Company, Khaled Al-Burai, and his delegation. According to Li, PKU has paid great attention to collaboration with the Arabian American Oil Company in scientific and technological fields. As business in oil exploration, production, and refinement is now developing rapidly, it requires industry and academic collaboration. In order to enhance communication with the Arabian American Oil Company, PKU will send more students to learn Arabic and to participate in research programs so to foster better bilateral collaboration.

Khaled Al-Burai then thanked PKU for the warm welcome. He expressed his respect for PKU’s achievements in academics and research and he explained that he wants to further cooperate with PKU and that Chinese technology and engineering could make projects even more effective.

Zhang Dongxiao, President of the College of Engineering, continued by introducing the details of a newly-settled project with the Arabian American Oil Company, which aims at providing students with professional knowledge on sustainable development.

Afterwards, they started discussing different collaboration possibilities. Both sides paid great attention to issues like the exchange of ideas among students, strengthening cooperation with the company’s research center, and expanding and diversifying activities in areas like Boston and Qatar. The suggestions raised during the discussion could help enhance and solidify cooperation between the two sides in related fields.

Finally, the warm exchange came to an end, and both sides exchanged souvenirs and took photos together.
