On behalf of Peking University, Dr. Li Yansong expressed his warm welcome to Ms. Levrence. Then, he gave an introduction of the recent developments of international cooperation between PKU and other universities all over the world, amongst which more than 100 of them are European partners. He continued to explain that PKU is a comprehensive university that offers different kinds of study programs in diverse subjects as well as abundant cultural activities for international students, and it is PKU’s hope to see Latvian students on our campus in the future.

Ms. Levrence thanked Dr. Li Yansong for his hospitality and the opportunity to visit PKU. She said one of the embassy’s missions in terms of education and culture is to promote a strong relationship between universities in Latvia and China. Whereas there are already strong connections with the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Latvian universities are seeking to expand their relationships with more top Chinese universities—like PKU. She introduced a few Latvian universities, a Confucius Institute in the capital city of Riga with more than 600 students, and she also emphasized that as a country of arts and culture, Latvia has a lot of art projects and choir programs that are welcoming to PKU’s contribution and participation.
