Vice President of University of Munich Visits PKU

On the morning of October 21st, Prof. Hans Ess and Sigmund Stintzing, Vice Presidents of University of Munich, visited Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, met the guests at Linhuxuan and compared notes on exchange programs between the two universities, accompanied by Wang Jian, Deputy Director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, Wu Jing, Vice Dean of the school of journalism and communication, and Li Hongquan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations.

Vice President Li Yansong expressed warm welcome for the arrival of the guests, and reviewed the fruitful results scored through cooperation between the two universities. For example,each year PKU sends students to summer sessions organized by University of Munich, and joint program for doctoral students has witnessed progress.
 
Vice President Hans Ess said that exchanges in chemistry and economy had laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the two universities, and long-term collaboration based on improved academic network can be expected. Vice President Sigmund Stintzing agreed and hoped PKU can play a positive part in this academic network. Both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Munich China Academic Network.

Then Vice President Li Yansong told about PKU summer programs and welcomed students from University of Munich to join in some courses delivered in English at PKU summer programs. He said that PKU summer programs had put in place several courses according to different majors and degree of difficulties in an attempt to expand its scale and result in greater success.

Vice President Hans Ess hoped students can have more opportunity to study in the areas of media and communication at PKU, which was elaborated by Wu Jing, Vice Dean of the school of journalism and communication.
