Senior Vice President, Human Resources of General Electric Visits PKU

On the morning of October 21th, Susan Peters, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at General Electric, visited Peking University (PKU).  Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, met the guest at Linhuxuan, accompanied by Cai Hongbin, Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Xia Hongwei, Director of the Office of International Relations.

During the meeting, Vice President Li Yansong extended warm welcome to Susan Peters. Prof. Cai then briefly introduced China Senior Leadership Program, a training program conducted by Guanghua School of Management for trainees from General Electric (GE).  Susan Peters highly values the relationship between PKU and GE. And this marked the first time that GE sent 20 of its core staff for executive leadership training outside GE. Furthermore, such a training program was designed and developed in China. She also noted the positive feedback the program received from its participants, especially with regards to the educational and experiential aspect. Prof. Cai also highlighted how the executives were engaged and motivated with a strong interest in Chinese thinking and philosophy.
 
Susan Peters expressed her desire to gain deeper and broader insights into China, given the huge influence it has in the world today. She also noted how significant such exposure to different worldviews and philosophy was for the growth and development of GE employees. Prof. Cai also praised GE as a unique corporation, with its business school helping develop diverse skillsets.

GE is involved in multiple industries, ranging from aviation, health care, energy and financial services.  Both GE and PKU discussed the possibility of further collaboration, especially in the healthcare industry. Susan Peters was deeply impressed by PKU’s strong medical group and abundance of medical resources. Vice President Li Yansong expressed interest in improving hospital management through the use of technology created by GE.
 
At the end of the meeting, Susan Peters said GE placed much importance on the relationship with PKU and hoped to attract and recruit more top students from PKU in the future.
