On the morning of October 10th, 2014, Dr. Pavel Kabat, Director General of International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Special Advisor of IIASA Chin-Min Lee visited PKU. President of PKU Wang Enge met the guests at the administrative building, accompanied by Wang Jie, Vice President of PKU, Li Qiang, Vice Chairman of PKU Council, Zheng Xiaoying, Director of the Institute of Population Research, PKU, Zhu Tong, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering.

First of all, President Wang Enge extended warm welcome for the arrival of Dr. Pavel Kabat, and introduced PKU’s status quo of academic settings, scientific research development and student compositions. Dr. Pavel Kabat also brief on the condition of IIASA.
Then both parties reviewed PKU delegation’s visit to IIASA on September. President Wang stressed the cooperation program of scientific research and student nourishment, while Dr. Pavel Kabat wished to expand collaboration with PKU in environmental sciences and sustainable development.

After the meeting, President Wang Enge and Dr. Pavel Kabat signed a memorandum of understanding to elaborate all-round cooperation between the two parties in the aspects of population, environment and economy.
Then Dr. Pavel Kabat received the letter of appointment to work as a visiting professor in the College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering.
