On October 15th, Franck Leprévost, professor and Vice-Rector of the University of Luxembourg, visited Peking University(PKU), accompanied by Paul Steinmetz, Ambassador of Luxembourg. Vice President Li Yansong met the guests at Linhuxuan, along with Prof. Chen Dayue, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Science, and Dr. Chen Zhong.
First of all, Vice President Li Yansong extended warm welcome to Mr. Franck Leprévost and Ambassador Paul Steinmetz, followed by expressing willingness in enhancing collaboration and communication between PKU and University of Luxembourg. They reached a consensus about increasing the number of exchange students as well as opening more degree programs in the future.
When it comes to specific field in scientific study, they all showed great interest in medicine. Dr. Chen Zhong told about the history of Peking University Health Science Center. He also said many universities in China owned their affiliated hospitals and clinics, which made it easier for universities to collect data and use them in scientific researches and generated profits at the same time. It sparked Mr. Franck Leprévost’s interest greatly, for it was a pattern of interaction that did not exist in Luxembourg. He then expressed his hope to better the way of data collection and data analysis in Luxembourg in days to come.

During the meeting, Vice President Li Yansong asked about the situation of Chinese study program in University of Luxembourg. Mr. Franck Leprévost emphasized the importance of learning Chinese nowadays and the undeniable fact of the rise of China.
At the end of the meeting, they exchanged delicately prepared gifts and took a photograph together to commemorate the meeting. The talk ended in warm atmosphere, and it will help strengthen the relationship between PKU and University of Luxembourg.
