On September 24th, Anwar Yusuf Abdulla Alabdulla, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to China, paid a visit to Peking University. Dr. Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, met the guests at Linhuxuan, along with Prof. Fu Zhiming, Dean of Department of Arabic Language.
Vice President Li Yansong first extended warm welcome to Ambassador Anwar Yusuf Abdulla Alabdulla. He then gave a brief introduction about foreign students at PKU and particularly mentioned some successful foreign alumni. In addition, since the communication between PKU and universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain was limited in the past few years, Vice President Li expressed hope for establishing closer partnership with more Bahrain universities.
Ambassador Anwar Yusuf Abdulla Alabdulla said that it was an honor for him to visit such a world-class university, reminding him of the days when he worked as a professor at the University of Bahrain. Looking back at the history of Chinese-Bahrain relations, he stressed that it was important to implement agreements signed by the King of Bahrain, especially those with respect to education, and suggested providing more communication opportunities for Chinese and Bahrain’s scholars.
Vice President Li agreed with Ambassador’s words, citing an old saying, ‘A journey of thousands of miles can only be achieved through accumulation of each single step’. He emphasized that both sides should promote more collaborations between PKU and Bahrain universities.
