On September 23th, Juan Carlos Henao Pérez, President of Universidad Externado de Colombia visited Peking University(PKU), accompanied by Carmenza Jaramillo, Colombian Ambassador to China. Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, received the guests at Linhuxuan.
On behalf of Wang Enge, President of PKU, Vice President Li Yansong extended warm welcome for the arrival of Juan Carlos Henao Pérez. He gave an introduction about the history of PKU, its status quo and subjects it offers. PKU always attaches great importance to cooperation with its counterparts in South America, such as the communication channels established with universities in Brazil, Mexico and Peru. However cooperation ties with higher institutions in Colombia is relatively limited now, and there are not many Chinese students in Colombia. Vice President hoped that cooperation would be strengthened.

Juan Carlos Henao Pérez thanked Vice President Li for his gracious reception. He said founded in 1886, Externado is a private university ranked 5th place in Colombia. Its advantageous disciplines are consisting of law, education, politics and cooperate management, and it strives to cultivate diplomats of Colombia. He also mentioned that there are only two universities in South America that offer courses in archeology, with one in Chile and the other in Externado. He hoped that collaboration in humanities, history, law, finance and archaeology could be strengthened between the two universities.
Carmenza Jaramillo,Colombian Ambassador to China, said he felt honored to visit PKU, and was willing to endeavor to enhance exchanges between PKU and universities in Colombia. Vice President extended heartfelt thanks for Carmenza Jaramillo and invited him to attend PKU International Cultural Festival to be held in October.
