During September 24th to 28th, Zhu Shanlu, Chairperson of PKU Council, led a delegation to visit Thailand. During his stay at Thailand, he paid a visit to Her Royal Highness princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, to Chulalongkorn University, attended the tenth anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University, and communicated with Thai entrepreneurs.
The delegation first visited Her Royal Highness princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Chairperson Zhu extended thanks for the gracious hospitality of the princess, and hoped to earn her support for PKU’s development in the following years. Her Royal Highness princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn noted that in-depth communication between PKU and Chulalongkorn University in nanotechnology and Chinese language teaching should be carried out so as to cultivate science majors with Chinese speaking ability, and she supported these talented students to pursue further study at PKU.
When the delegation went to Chulalongkorn University, Chairperson Zhu met the President Pirom Kamolratanakul. Both sides explored extensive scientific and research cooperation in details, proposed to establish an international nanotechnology center named after Her Royal Highness princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and conduct scientific cooperation and dual degree program for PhD candidates at the center. Zhu Shanlu also attended the opening ceremony of the tenth anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University.
The delegation then paid a visit to Thai entrepreneurs who maintain friendly ties with PKU. Chairperson Zhu extended heartfelt thanks for entrepreneurs’ long-term support for PKU and hoped they would pay more attention to PKU’s development to help it hit a new level in education quality.
