The 5th APRU Symposium on Brain and Mind Research in the Asia-Pacific Successfully Held at PKU

On August 29th and 30th, 2014, the fifth APRU Symposium on Brain and Mind Research in the Asia-Pacific was successfully held at Yingjie Exchange Center of PKU. As one of the academic activities held by the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, the symposium is co-organized by the department of psychology of PKU and McGovern Institute for Brain Research. More than 150 researchers of brain science and psychology from China, America, Germany, Australia,  New Zealand, England and other countries. attended the symposium and exchanged the latest research results in the field.

Professor Rao Yi from Peking University, Professor Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg from the University of Heidelberg, Professor Keiji Tanaka from the RIKEN Advanced Institute and Professor Shinobu Kitayama from the University of Michigan delivered keynote speeches respectively. The keynote speeches cover mental and psychological illnesses, the molecular genetic mechanism of cognitive ability, and the influence derived from the interaction between cultural environment and genes on human psychological and neural activities.

Besides, the symposium also included there workshops in which researchers with different research orientations communicated with each other and provided new methods for the research development in brain and neurosciences.
