Professor François Englert Was Selected in Peking University Global Fellowship Program

On June 5th, Professor François Englert of Free University of Brussels, who is also a Belgian theoretical physicist and 2013 Nobel Prize laureate (shared with Peter Higgs), visited Peking University (PKU) and was selected in Peking University Global Fellowship Program.
 
On the afternoon of June 5th, Vice President of Peking University Li Yansong met François Englert at Yingjie Exchange Center of PKU and conferred a medal of Peking University Global Fellowship and a certificate to him, accompanied by Prof. Xie Xincheng, Dean of the School of Physics.

During the meeting Vice President Li Yansong spoke highly of Professor François Englert’s contribution in his academic field and introduced the status quo and development of scientific research, talent cultivation and international cooperation at PKU.
 
Professor François Englert said that Free University of Brussels also placed great emphasis on talent cultivation and adhered to the philosophy of the freedom of thought and scientific research.

Then he gave a signed copy of the paper that won him 2013 Nobel Prize laureate to the School of Physics at PKU. This paper entitled Broken Symmetry and the Mass of Gauge Vector Mesons was published on Physical Review Letters in 1964.
 
After the meeting, professor François Englert delivered a wonderful academic lecture for PKU students to share his college life and academic career.
