On the morning of May 27^th, 2014, Professor Jean-Lou Chameau, President of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) visited Peking University (PKU). Professor Wang Enge, President of PKU, met the guests at Linhuxuan, accompanied by Professor Gao Song, Vice President of PKU, Professor Zhang Xiaodong, Dean of the College of Engineering, Director Zhou Hui from the Office of Scientific Research, and Deputy Director Li Hongquan from the Office of International Relations.





The meeting provided the two universities a chance to have a fruitful discussion on their experiences of international collaboration and research. Professor Wang expressed his hope for further engagement and cooperation between the two universities, in particularly in the area of scientific and technological cooperation. Professor Chameau also expressed more in-depth ties with PKU in areas such as energy science should be established.





 

After the meeting, Professor Chameau proceeded to deliver a speech titled “Innovation, Rigor and International Collaboration of an International Research University”. Professor Chameau also toured the proposed location for the new library of ancient collections, and the PKU branch of KAUST’s Library.
