Prof. Ian O’Connor, President of Griffith University, visited Peking University (PKU) on March 13, 2014. Prof. Gao Song, Vice President of PKU and the Provost, met the guests, accompanied by Zhang Xiaodong, Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Liu Shusen, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Dr. Xia Hongwei, Director of the Office of International Relations.
First, Prof. Gao Song warmly welcomed the arrival of the guests. Then both parties reviewed the cooperation between Peking University and Griffith University. Fruitful results and rich experience have been harvested in academic exchanges between the two universities.
Professor Ian O’Connor pointed out that with closer cooperation between the two universities, more and more students have got access to international platforms and the knowledge of globalization, and he expected that more outstanding students can involve in bilateral exchanges. Prof. Gao Song responded that PKU hoped to provide more chances of further study abroad for more students, and helped students to grow smoothly by deepening collaboration with overseas universities. Besides, they also shared their opinions ongeneral education curriculum.
Prof. O’Connor extended heartfelt thanks for PKU’s constructive cooperation. He envisioned a huge potential for collaboration between Peking University and Griffith University when talking about the common challenges confronted by both Australia and China in the areas of climate, water conservation and urbanization. At the end of the meeting, the two sides took a group photo.
