Prof. Michael Arthur, President of University College London, visited Peking University (PKU) on Feb.21, 2014. Prof. Wang Enge, President of Peking University, met the guests at Lin Hu Xuan.

Prof. Michael Arthur was appointed as President of University College London in September, 2013. This was the first time he paid a visit to China since his appointment.
Prof. Wang Enge extended warm welcome for the arrival of Prof. Michael Arthur, and expressed his willingness to further broaden cooperation with University College London. Prof. Wang Enge said that University College London boasts strong research capabilities in medical science and bioscience, and Peking University is actively promoting its health science sector. He hoped both sides can take this project as a starting point to enhance research collaboration and personnel exchanges in the aspects of bioscience, human health, bioengineering and brain science.
Prof. Michael Arthur explained that University College London attached great importance to exchanges with Chinese universities and it hoped to establish a strategic cooperative relationship with PKU and other China’s prestigious universities. Four of all the ten departments are related to medical science in University College London. Besides, 60% of all the research funds are put into relevant fields of medical science every year. Prof. Michael Arthur agreed to establish a comprehensive cooperative partnership with PKU. Meanwhile, he also hoped to explore further collaboration with PKU in such areas as student exchanges and masters’ programs taught in English.
