On the afternoon of December 12th , Dean of the Institute of International Relations and Development of Geneva Philippe Burrin and assistant professor Huang Yi visited Peking University. Vice President Li Yansong, Vice Dean of School of International Relations Yu Wanli, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations Zheng Ruqing greeted the guests in Lin Hu Xuan.

First, Vice President Li Yansong welcomed the arrival of the dean, and made a brief introduction of Peking University’s international activities. He pointed out that, along with the rapid development of China in the last 30 years, more and more people with an international vision are needed. The Institute of International Relations and Development of Geneva has cultivated many people for important international institutes like the UN and World Bank. Peking University values international communications and exchange visits, especially with European universities, hence wishes to establish a long time and steady scheme of communication and exchange visits, helping provide more opportunities of exchange and internship for students, promote professors’ corporation and set a good example of cultivating country citizens.
Dean Burrin approved of Vice President Li’s proposal. He stated that, the Institute of International Relations and Development of Geneva has long wished to expand the working range of diplomat business and has a good tradition of working with Peking University in every field. The Dean said that he was deeply impressed by Chinese students’ interest in national affairs during the discussion with students from the School of International Relations in the morning. The Institute of International Relations and Development hopes to develop regular corporation in the field of international politics under the structure of steady corporation, thus promoting the corporation of social organizations as well as governmental departments.

At the end of meeting, the two sides signed an agreement and exchanged gifts.
