Peru Catholic University delegates visit PKU

On May 19th, Peru Catholic University Professor and President of the Confucius Institute Ruben Tang, accompanied by President of Peru Catholic University's International Department Luis Peirano Falconi, visited Peking University.  Peking University Office of International Relations Vice Director Yan Jun warmly received the guests in Linhuxuan near Weiming Lake.

Although this was Professor Tang's first visit to Peking University, he was immediately captivated by the beautiful campus, using the word "wonderful" to describe the scenery near Weiming Lake.  Mr. Falconi, on the other hand, had visited Peking University 6 years ago.  He reveled at the amazing changes and progress that Peking University had experienced in just a brief six years. Vice Director Yan Jun mentioned that during his official visit to Peru some years ago, he was also captivated by the enchanting scenery. 

Professor Tang, while describing Peru Catholic University's Confucius Institute, mentioned that offering more Chinese classes was the Institutes most important task. Professor Tang furthered mentioned that he believes Chinese and Peruvian culture share many similarities that can act as a foundation for exchange between Chine and Peru.  When asked if he was interested in offering exchange opportunities for students to study abroad in China, Professor Tang affirmed that he had a strong desire to create such a program.

Peru Catholic University was established on March 18th, 1917.  It currently operates 9 departments:  Management, Information, Archeology, Architecture, Law, Economics, Philosophy, News, and Engineering.  Peru Catholic University is home to over 16,000 students, including 1,300 masters students.  The Confucius Institute was established on March 20th, 2009, with the help of Shanghai Foreign Language University.
