Third International Collaboration for Win-Win Progress Was Held in Peking University

President Zhou delivered his welcoming remarks and pointed out that a university’s development and progress is closely linked to all circles of society, and universities today are unique from the standpoint that they make scientific discoveries and inventions that have the potential to expand and extend industry’s long-term technological boundaries. So he put great emphasis on the cooperation between universities and business enterprises. At last, He firmly believed that the two sides will make cooperative and collaborative efforts to create new and exciting opportunities that will benefit both sides in the future.

Professor Cheng Xu, Assistant President, presented some information on the history of Peking University as well as departments in nature science and an overview of PKU strengths in science and technology research highlights, advanced facilities and so on. Besides, he also showed some information on international R&D cooperation. Professor Chen Shiyi, Dean of College of Engineering, made a brief introduction of College of Engineering Peking University, including the faculty team and the achievements they’ve got.

Dr. Björn Wallmark, Global Vice President of the Research Area CVGI, AstraZeneca R&D Mölndal Sweden, showed everyone that how the products of AstraZeneca helped patients throughout the world in their fight against cardiovascular disease. Meanwhile, he expressed his expectation of further cooperation with Peking University.

David Liu, Managing Director of Thomson Reuters, China, and Hugo Zhang, Managing Director of Elsevier Science and Technology in China, addressed their speeches on their cooperation with Peking University.

Followed by the opening session, PKU-AZ Master Agreement Signing Ceremony was held in the VIP room. President Zhou signed the agreement with Dr. Björn Wallmark, and presented the gift to him.

After that, the conference was divided into three panel sessions focused on pharmaceutical engineering and biotechnology, engineering and environmental sciences, information and communication technology, which turned out to be a good chance for guests and faculty members to exchange their knowledge and ideas.
