APRU

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is a consortium of leading research universities in the Pacific Rim. In 1997, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) was formed in Los Angeles by a group of university leaders who aspired to help member universities become effective contributors to the development of a prosperous and progressive Pacific Rim community. APRU is an independent self-governing association legally constituted in Singapore. Its members elect a chair and a steering committee to provide leadership for the association.

APRU is a consortium of 42 leading research universities in the Pacific Rim region, which includes Stanford University, University of California, the University of Tokyo, the National University of Singapore, the University of Melbourne and others. Its members in the PRC are elite universities, for example, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University and the University of Science and Technology of China. APRU fosters cooperation in education, research and enterprise thereby contributing to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement of the Pacific Rim.

APRU is one of the gateways to the Pacific Rim region on matters relating to higher education, as well as industry and government. While actively searching for solutions to global issues and challenges, APRU seeks to continue contributing to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement in the Pacific Rim.
