On October 25, 2009, the Peking University 6th International Cultural Festival was held at the opening space in front of the Centenary Auditorium, bringing a feast of the world's linguistic and cultural blend. As a brand of PKU’s campus culture, International Cultural Festival has ushered in its sixth birthday and gone through six years of glory. From the initial attempt to maturity, it has flourished for six years and has witnessed the steady advance of Peking University’s internationalization. By now, the International Cultural Festival has developed into an annual event to display exotic customs and communicate different national cultures.
This year’s International Cultural Festival has a motif as ‘the journey of language and culture’ and is operated under the purpose to ‘cultivate young global vision and build a harmonious international campus’. After half a year of meticulous preparation, International Cultural Festival attracted foreign students on campus from 57 countries and regions to take active part in 17 activities which were lively and rich in content. The whole duration of this festival was nearly a full month. Especially the opening ceremony, ethnic exhibition and cultural performances held at Peking University’s Centenary Auditorium Square on October 25 acted as a booster to pull this festival to its climax and won widespread praise.
