Mr. Cazeneuve started his speech by discussing the strategic and cooperative relationship between China and France. He explained that China’s role on the world stage is becoming increasingly important and that the contribution that Chinese government has made in maintaining the world order is great. Mr. Cazeneuve also talked about “Brexit”, and he expressed his positive attitude towards the continued attraction of the European Union (EU) for many young professionals and distinguished students. He said the EU is one of the most important political and economic power systems in the world, whose member countries are part of a multilateral cooperation network.

He also explained that the EU is also an important power system of initiating direct investment, which has created tremendous business and job market opportunities. Although the EU has experienced difficulties recently, it still has an essential and irreplaceable role on the world stage.

 

 

Additionally, Mr. Cazeneuve mentioned three major problems that the world faces: Firstly, anti-terrorism has become the top priority on the government’s agenda, which requires the cooperation and understanding among countries. Next, social infrastructure projects require great cooperation and support from different groups to ensure a safe social security network, and this will influence the quality of life of a country’s citizens greatly. Lastly, the national defense policy also needs to be taken into account in building a more harmonious social order. For example, Mr. Cazeneuve suggested the possibility of increasing communication and cooperation among countries in terms of political and economic areas, such as the recent aeronautical and space technologies project that has been settled in Tianjin, China. Mr. Cazeneuve said that keeping frequent communication between France and China in these areas will contribute to the development of the world economy and strengthen the world political order. 

 

 

During the Q&A session, Mr. Cazeneuve received numerous questions from PKU students. He maintained a positive attitude and emphasized the importance of cultural and academic exchanges between French and Chinese universities, and he expressed his wish to welcome more Chinese students to study abroad in France.

In the end of the Q&A session, Mr. Cazeneuve expressed his gratitude to the PKU faulty members and students for their warm hospitality during his visit, and he encouraged PKU students to apply for exchange programs to study at French universities, which will further develop bilateral cooperation between France and China through cultural and economic exchanges and communication.
