THE PROGRAMME

University College Dublin (UCD) and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have established a scholarship scheme to assist Chinese students who hope to pursue a PhD programme at UCD.  The scholarship is offered for full-time study for 4 years.

Selected Chinese students will be enrolled in a designated PhD programme at UCD.  If the selected Chinese students successfully complete the requirements of the designated programme and defend their dissertation, they will be conferred degrees by UCD subject to the normal UCD rules and procedures for the awarding of such qualifications.  It is envisaged that ten (10) students will be admitted to the programme in 2008. However, the total number can be adjusted in accordance with the quality of applicants.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the UCD-CSC Scholarship Scheme 2008 must be:
• Citizens and permanent residents (under 35 years’ old) of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application;
• Candidates who are not currently working or studying abroad;
• Enrolled as a full-time post graduate student (including the first year of PhD programmes) in the universities specified;
• Outstanding final year undergraduate students currently studying at the universities specified.
• Candidates who satisfy the selection criteria set out by the CSC by completing the CSC Application form and the CSC Employer Reference Form at http://apply.csc.edu.cn/
AWARDS

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive the award from UCD for his/her tuition fee and the award from the CSC for his/her living expenses and airfares.
